LUMINANCE RATIO
Like Little Garrisons Besieged
(fratto9 under the sky-Boring machines) |
LUMINANCE RATIO is a collaborative effort joining sound artists Eugenio Maggi (Cría Cuervos, Slave Auction), Gianmaria Aprile (Ultraviolet Makes Me sick, Fratto9under the sky records) and Andrea Ferraris (Airchamber 3, Ur,Ulna, John Russel, Sil Muir). "Like Little Garrisons Besieged" brings them far from their respective discographies and finds them sailing in the apparently quiet waters of free-folk, electroacoustics and minimal drones. The music, resulting from live sessions and painstaking studio work, is meticulously thought to combine electronics with analog/traditional instruments: laptop, acoustic and electric guitars, cardiod and contact microphones, vibraphone, melodica, glockenspiel, minidisc, rimshot and cymbals, analog synth, percussion, kaoss pad and pedal effects. Featured on this release is Paul Bradley (Twenty Hertz, Monos, etc.)'s personal reinterpretation of their collective work, assembling an expanded "remix concrète" out of the single tracks.

A SPIRALE
Agaspastik
(fratto9 under the sky-desert factory-JP) |
Contrazioni spastiche postpunk, il continuo nascere e annullarsi di una forma, innestate su ricerca timbrica elettroacustica, e rigorosa pratica dell’improvvisazione come mezzo di fuga verso una musicalità altra.
Try to imagine Kevin Drumm and Bhob Rainey playing rock together, with a drummer that deviate their already deviant music playing something coming from the sixties.
The aim is to make music “not playing” (barbarous music, quoting Cornelius Cardew), a torn body that spits blood, whose only movement is generated by spastic contractions due to injuries.
Agaspastik represents the “step beyond” of A spirale, that from electroacoustic destructuration of “Porosità” (cd-r) and “Gariga” (SM – 1360) expand their range of possibility and control over the sound matter, losing themselves in the languages of radical improvisation, of power noise, of punk...
Very dark and violent music, with bewildering moments of melody...

Illàchime Quartet
I'm Normal, My Heart Still Works
(fratto9 under the sky-lizard records) |
It is released by the italian label Fratto9 Under the sky Records and Lizard Records.
Several fine musicians have given their contribution to the album. Among them, some important international artists like
Mark Stewart (voice of Pop group and Maffia)
Graham Lewis (voice and bass player of Wire)
Rhys Chatham (avantgarde musician from New York)
and Salvatore Bonafede (one of the most well-known italian jazzists).
Illàchime Quartet is an instrumental ensemble based in Naples (Italy) that joins electronics and acoustic instruments. It gathers sounds and noises from the surroundings as well as scattered fragments of acoustic memories, which form the texture for the interventions of the musicians along rough and terse lines, often improvised. Final target: to intrigue and to seduce the audience by means of an unconventional, highly kinematic sonic experience.
At the moment the live lineup is composed by:
Fabrizio Elvetico: piano, electronics, electric bass; Gianluca Paladino: guitar, samples; Pasquale Termini: cello, synthesizer; Agostino Mennella: drums, electronics
The band released its first album in 2004, then a contribute on the vol. 9 of Bip_Hop Generation Series (previous volumes of this compilation contained tracks by artists as Murcof, Scanner, Mira Calix, Phonem). Another release is planned for a compilation by the Dublin-based label Psychonavigation Records.

Luca Mauri "between love and hate"
www.creativesourcesrec.com
From the age of sixteen he has played guitar in different band hardcore-punk/noise (Città Sotterranea, Idioti, MMK…) and approached experimental avant-garde music in the late 90s, with his solo-projects “00” and “looke”.
Between 2001 and 2006 he has played drums in a post-punk/funk band called “Kokoro Mayikibo”, and recorded a cd co-produced with the Italian label Mila Records.
In 2005-2007 he has played bass/guitar/drums in “Two Dead Bodies” duo, devoted to tribal/noise improvisations (a cd out on aferecords/bar la muerte recs).
Today, Luca is also playing guitar in “I/O”, an improvisation quartet with avant-garde/free-form rock/minimalistic influences, by which he has released two records and has played live with a lot of bands (Liars, William Parker, Giuseppe Ielasi, Zu, Cul de Sac and so on...).
